6th September 2007 (Friday)

Gary sent daddy, mummy, Dac and I to Golden Mile to catch our 10 hour bus ride to Penang. We had upgraded to a 18 seater bus and the seats were much bigger and much more comfortable. We even have our own mini TV to watch various English and Chinese movies.

We set off at 9.30pm and we stopped over at Yong Peng for a short while and continued our journey to Penang. We finally reached Penang at 7.30am on 7th September. We had transport to our CityBay Hotel in Penang. We were in luck and we were allowed to check in as there were rooms available.

We dumped our bags and off we went to explore Penang. We decided to rent a car to explore Penang. Our first stop was to try the most famous Prawn Noddles in Penang. We reached the coffeeshop at about 10am and to our horror, the stall had ran out of noodles. What a disappointment. We ordered other stuff for breakfast. Daddy was lucky, he asked if there was a bowl available and the lady kindly offered us a bowl. Delicious noodles.

Pictures of the food and the addresses of the places where we ate in Penang can be viewed at my other blog, http://ieatieatieat.blogspot.com/

We tried ABC - Ice Kachang next. We then proceeded to Penang Hill after our heavy breakfast. We had to take a funicular train and changed to other train midway to get up to Penang Hill. It was much cooler at the top of the hill. We came back down after about 45 mins. It rained when we were getting down.

Next, we proceeded to Kek Lok Si (Temple of Supreme Bliss). It was raining and we skipped going up to see the Bronze Statue of Godness of Mercy. We ate Penang's most famous Penang Laksa at the stall near the Temple. Dac and I did not really fancy the laksa as we thought that the fishy smell and taste was too strong to our liking.

Then we drove to the Snake Temple. There were a few snakes crawling at the ceiling of the temple. Then we decided to head back to town. We stopped by the 2nd best Tau Siah Piah shop to get some Tau Siah Piah. We then headed for dinner at New Lane Hawker Junction. We had a feast. The chicken feet was very good.

We then head to Batu Ferringhi for some Pasar Malam shopping.

Next day, we went back to have Hokkien noddles in the morning and we manage to have one bowl for each of us. We then popped over to the Best Tau Siah Piah in town to get more boxes of Tau Siah Piah as gifts.

We went to KOMTAR next and we bought some rompers for Baby. We had also tried Penang's best Chendol on our way to KOMTAR. Dac took part in a Pomelo Peeling Contest at Prangin Mall and he came in FIRST!!!! Next, we went to eat Penang's best CKT at Loh Eng Hoo Coffee Shop. Each plate cost RM 7.50 with a few big and juicy prawns. We also had Ice Kacang there. We felt our cravings for the chicken feet we had yesterday and we walked back to the coffeeshop and ordered 2 plates of chicken feet to be shared among four of us. Very nice and delicious!!

We then went to Gurney Plaza and did some shopping and proceeded for dinner at Gurney Drive. Went back to the hotel after that.

The next day, we had walked to the famous Loh Bak at Cafe Kheng Pin. Mommy even packed some home to bring back to Singapore.
